Tailored Mentoring

Most people who do something at an elite level have a coach or mentor who shares their knowledge and wisdom of the discipline, and who supports and encourages them to be the best that they can possibly be. It’s no different for people who work in creative industries. Creative people also benefit from the advice of trusted friends and mentors. In fact, the literary world is overflowing with examples of author/mentor relationships. Just look at the relationship between Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, and Allan Ginsberg for one...

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

Throughout your writerly journey, it’s likely you’ll have several mentors. Each one will teach you something new or support you in a different way, and that’s great. That’s how it should be. No one teacher will have all the answers you need.

As a editor, screenwriter, published author, and certified trainer and assessor with over thirty years' experience in the writing and publishing industry, I can be your mentor. I can help you to write powerful, engaging, and entertaining fiction content—from the very beginning where all you have is the germ of an idea, to the moment you type 'The end' on your brand new novel.

So, if you're ready to take the next step, if you're ready to take your ideas and turn them into your best work yet, contact me, end me a message, and let's get started!

TERMS & CONDITIONS

How do I know that mentoring is right for me?

Mentoring is suitable for writers at all levels of experience, whether you're just starting out or whether you've been published before.

Maybe...

  • you’ve got ideas but have no idea how to turn them into a story

  • you’ve started writing but lost the central idea and eventually abandoned it

  • you’ve written a couple of stories but received negative feedback

  • you’re nervous because you didn’t study English at school

  • you're concerned because you don’t know anything about the writing and publishing industry

  • you lack confidence or can’t bear the thought of rejection

  • your goal is to write a novel, but you know you need more training.

How does this mentorship work?

We will work session-by-session for as long as you need me and/or for as long as it takes to complete your manuscript.

Depending on how fast you work, video chat sessions can be weekly or fortnightly. Once we have met and I have given you notes, you can then do the work or make your revisions and resubmit it to me before our next session.

Remember that I will need a few days to read and make notes for you. Then, when you're ready, we can meet again to discuss your submission and the notes that I have made for you.

How long will it take to finish a whole novel?

Honestly, that's like asking 'how long is a piece of string?' and depends on a lot of things like availability, what your goals are, how fast you work or can complete each step in the process, etc. The whole process can take anywhere between six months and a year to complete.

How much does it cost?

It will cost $110 per session for as long as you need or want my mentoring services.

Note: All pricing is subject to change without notice.

How does it work? How will you chat with me?

All consultations are conducted via Zoom or Google Chat so please make sure you have access to one of those services.

Can you record the chat?

Yes, you can record the chat for your own personal use.

However, the recording are subject to copyright so they must not be shared with family, friends, or colleagues via email or any other communication method, nor can it be posted to social media as it is subject to copyright.

What file format should my manuscript be?

It should be a regular Word document (.doc or .docx). The text on all pages should be double spaced. Please note that I cannot read Mac formatted documents.

What about confidentiality?

I take confidentiality very seriously. As such, everything I read and everything we discuss is totally confidential.

Still got questions?

No problem. Contact me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
